To begin, let's start with a template from Canva.

If you're new to adding charts or graphs to your design, simply press the forward slash key on your keyboard.

This action will open a window where you can input "chart" in the search field. From there, select the type of chart you want to create.

For instance, if you choose a pie chart, it will automatically be added to your page. You can resize it as needed and input your values and labels on the left side panel.

If you wish to convert your current chart to another type, use the dropdown button to select a different chart style, such as changing a pie chart to a line chart.

Adding Animation to Your Charts

By default, Canva applies animated entrance effects to your charts. To see this in action, pull up your timeline and click on the duration. You'll notice that your chart already contains an animation.

If you want to apply a different type of animation, click on your chart or graph and then click the animate button at the top. If you selected a template, it might already have animated effects applied, and the name of the effect will be displayed. If not, the button will simply say "animate."

Once you click the animate button, a side panel will appear, allowing you to choose whether the animation should appear on click or not by toggling the button.

You can then select from various animations available. Canva Pro users have additional options to adjust the speed and direction of the animation. Apply the desired animation to your chart and repeat the process for all other elements in your design.

Editing Timing and Duration

After adding animations, the next step is to edit their timing. To do this, click on your element, right-click, and select "show timing" from the menu.

This will display the timing for each element. Start with the first element, which should appear first, and adjust the timing of the subsequent elements so they appear in sequence. For example, the second element should appear slightly later than the first, the third later than the second, and so on.

Once you've adjusted the timing, you can also tweak the duration or speed of each animation. This ensures that the animations flow smoothly and at the desired pace. Play the animation to see how it looks and make any necessary adjustments to the speed or timing of each element.
